| UPDATE 12/10/11: We've added new pictures of Sadie with her foster brother and sisters. She likes to snuggle!! :o) ---------------end of update-------------- Sadie is a ten month old classic fawn female with natural ears and tail. She has food allergies or some issue that caused a secondary skin infection. She is currently taking antibiotics to combat it and she is doing much better. She is on a grain free diet, just in case it is a food issue that started it all. We recommend that she stay on a grain free diet. This food is readily available at most any Petco, Petsmart or Pet supply store. It has very few ingredients, so it is less likely to cause any problems. Sadie is extremely sweet with other dogs and just wants to play. She adores all people!!! Sadie is really just your typical boxer pup. She would be wonderful for most any family situation. She's eager to please, very smart and would pick up on any training right away. She does have the benefit of having lived with a family, so she has her basic house skills figured out, but is getting a refresher course after living in the shelter for a month. Sadie really needs a family that she can bond with and receive a lot of love. She's so young, it's been hard on her going to the shelter. The stress alone probably delayed some of her healing. We'd like Sadie to go to a home that has experience working with dogs on their training. She just needs consistency and patience. We will be updating this bio with new pictures and more information over time. Please stop back and check her out!! If you're interested in this itty bitty little boxer girl, you can fill out an application on Sadie. If you have questions about her, feel free to email. Adoption Donation: $275.00 Sadie is in a foster home in Billings, Montana. If any of our Montana folks are interested in her, we could set up a meeting there. Eventually, Sadie will be coming to Rapid City. UPDATE 1/17/12: Our poor little Sadie is still suffering from skin problems. Initially it was thought to be food allergies, but after months of being on a limited ingredient food, she continues to have terrible secondary skin infections. Biopsies have been taken, so hopefully the answer will be there. We'll update this when we have the information. She's only 38lbs, so she's an itty bitty little boxer girl and is so miserable right now. She doesn't let it stop her from romping with the other dogs. She's a playful girl that is FULL of LOVE! UPDATE 1/31/12: Sadie has been diagnosed with Sebaceous Adenitis. It is a condition where she does not have Sebaceous Glands to produce natural oils, so her skin gets dry, and it can lead to secondary infections. It's not that terrible of a condition. There are lotions and conditioners that can be used to replace the natural oils. They soak in and help keep her moisturized. As long as it's kept under control, it shouldn't be a big problem. If a secondary infection occurs, and it's obvious, because their temperature goes up and they'll develop itchy lesion, it's treated with cephalexin and a bi-monthly or monthly bath. Read up on the condition, it's not seen often in boxers, but it is considered to be a cosmetic issue rather than a serious health problem. Sadie is looking for her FurEver Home where she can just be loved for the sweetheart she is. |
